Friend of mine ran across a block with 1981 dated heads 990's

Motor has been setting for 20? years, they put gas in it and it runs....

He being a Ford guy asked me about it and I know the casting number 3904351 used in Corvettes and Full size, full size did not have 4 bolt mains that I know of. This one does by the holes next to oil filter and being 435 version.

But the number on the pad is confusing to me, I have Colvin's book of numbers …. so any ways T0327JA (Tonawanda, March 27th JA suffix) here is the confusing part to me, numbers are in larger font, 7118137 but the 8 is not stamped as hard as the rest of the numbers.
Casting date B 28 7, so it lines up with the build date of March 27th 1967, appears to be a pretty desirable block, is there an orfan block list for Corvette's?

He realizes it's worth good money, but was wondering how to proceed, I told him the money was in the block, might take it and have it checked for cracks, obviously at this time he only knows it will run, does not know if it had been bored out or what crank etc.

Colvin's Book says they did not use a letter on block ledge on Corvette's because all Corvette motors went to St Louis at that time.?

suffix "JA" = 435hp, 4 speed, mechanical lifters, 3x2 bbl., A.I.R. .
Valve covers are aluminum and have "Gaylon Hill" molded in them, I guess he was out of Orange County CA. known engine builder.

Some aftermarket intake.

Any Thoughts?

Don't have much of a back story, the VIN thing is strange to me as B bodies start with plant code letter such as J = Janesville and so on.

Any explanation of the 7118137 with the 8 being not struck as hard, they are perfectly in line, so look legit, I have only seen pics.
