Have a 55 Chevy 2dr sedan with a crossflow radiator and air conditioning. The radiator does not have a trans cooler. I don't want to put the remote trans cooler in front of the radiator as I already have the evaporater there. Any suggestions for a good spot that will not block the radiator? Have a built 383 that needs lots of cooling.

you might find this thread helpful, look it over carefully
on my c4 corvette I needed a larger transmission fluid cooler, space is veery limited, I mounted it under the gas tank inside the spare tire carry compartment

IF YOU CAN,T SMOKE THE TIRES AT WILL,FROM A 60 MPH ROLLING START YOUR ENGINE NEEDS MORE WORK!!"!
IF YOU CAN , YOU NEED BETTER TIRES AND YOUR SUSPENSION NEEDS MORE WORK!!

Here is what I did for a transmission cooler for my '57 Chevy. It is mounted under the floor outside of the frame on the passenger side. The cooler has a thermostatic switch for the fan. B&M has a nice one that uses a Spal fan and has a built-in thermostatic switch. I added the piece of metal on the front side to help flow air into the cooler when the car is moving. No trouble after 10 years of use. Trans is a 700R4.

My trans cooler setup is about the same as Larry`s. Been running it for over 10yrs now with no problems.

This kind of cooler can run down the side of the frame. There's plenty of room in a '56 to put it as we did. Not true of the '55s.
