Does anyone know of a shop that can modify a steering column to fit a CPP #500 power steering box. The new P/S box is longer so the steering column has to be shortened.
IDIT has them for automatics already modified but this is a 3 speed column shift that no one carries so it has to be shortened by 5 or 6". I am told by one of the P/S mfg's.that a machine shop can do it but I have not found one that can.
Big problem. Car is on a lift and cannot finish it and the kit mfg. does not tell you up front that the steering column has to be modified. It's one nasty secret that you run into while trying to install the kit..
Please don't tell me to put in a floor shift--I bought the car on purpose because it has 3 speed column shift w/overdrive.

There is not room for both of the 3 speed shift levers between the firewall and 500 steering box. I have not heard of anyone using a 3 speed column shift. I believe floor shift is the only option with the 3 speed. The modified automatic has a offset shift lever at the very end of the column, to clear the firewall.
