I just picked up a 3790721 block for a dealer installed 1962 V8 nova project I have my eye on. The interesting thing about this block is the very early casting date. It was cast on K 61. This must mean it was originally made for one of the very first V8 dealer installed cars. I'm not sure it was ever in a car or not. It has no stamping codes on the pad. It has been sonic tested and will take a 4" bore. Apparently according to my research early 721 blocks were used for both 283's and 327's as the casting's had plenty of material around the cylinders on purpose. I was just wondering how many of you guys out there have ever see a legitimate dealer installed V8 in a 62 or 63 nova or chevy ll. Since the cost was more than half the price of the entire car I bet there wasn't many done. I know there was an old HOT ROD write up about it that was very interesting. I'm looking for any information regarding these early dealer installed V8 Novas. Any legit dealer installed cars, pics, pics of paperwork etcetera. Thanks.

Probably too late, but that block # came out as a '62-'65 car/truck with a 283.It will only take a .060 over bore "SAFELY",which would make it a 3.935 bore

Late yr model (Dec. 51 Bel Air/ 52 trim), with a basically stock 68 Camaro SS350/300hp Turbo Fire. Edelbrock 1405,Saginaw 4spd/355 geared 55/6 Chevy rear.2,1st places, and 1 top five award trophies so far

I am very late replying to this but I had a 721 block cast November 63 that was sonic tested and easily bored .125" over to make it into a 327.
