Must be a REAL car. Original preferred, restored considered. No convertibles. Serious buyer

Verne, I wish you luck my friend.
Please let us know if you find the car of your dreams. I think we would all like to see one, there couldn't have been that many made. Anyone have production numbers on something like that?
Steve

3,034. Did a little bit of internet search using the term "Factory production numbers for 1965 Impala with a 409 engine" and was from a thread in www.348-409.com

I wonder what the Oshawa production number was?
409 was available through all of the 65 production year at Oshawa since the 396 was unavailable.
But one plant even all year long wouldn't have contributed many 409 optioned full size Chevys, let alone 4 speed SS models.
There are restored ones to be had, but unrestored that's not a basket case, good luck with that.
The big plus with an Oshawa car is that there is GM Canada documentation to prove it's authenticity and how it was optioned from the factory.
The downside is the aftermarket doesn't provide Oshawa unique reproduction/restoration parts.
I have a big list of 65 Oshawa and 65 USA production differences compiled from talking to members here and from going through my car.
An Oshawa car is a tough authentic/correct restore.

I'm not sure about that number. US plants built 2,828 409s in '65 but only 742 of them were the 400hp version.

If you know of a restored one, I'd very much like to hear about it.

Verne -

I was in the Army in 1966. A fellow trainee of mine had a triple black 65 SS with the 400hp 409. A beautiful car with the black vinyl top! He lived in Chicago and bought the car new. I should try to call him and re-establish our friendship, and of course, find out what happened to his car!

Looks like your figure is right, Verne. I went straight to the site and it was there under the General Information tab in the 348-409 tab.
