What has broke off your truck lately?

Broke this part broke on mine. Time to look for new pieces.

At least the A/C is blowing ice cold today. Expected temperature today is 100!

Most recent was the HEI distributor, rotor, center contact spring. It actually burned holes in the rotors plastic. That was an expensive tow, even though I was only a couple of miles from home. Wound up replacing EVERYTHING inside/on the distributor, and the truck runs better than it has in some time. The other truck lost the cage that holds the sleeve bearings to the pinion shaft in the rear end. I guess those sleeve bearings were then binding up, causing the rear end to lock up, then release violently. After the rear end was repaired, the trans had a loud grinding noise with first and reverse; I guess the beating from the rear end caused that (???), but I still have't taken the trans out. Starting to think I need a NEW truck. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Has anyone changed the door latch springs? How hard is it? Do the latches need to come off? I might as well replace both sides. The right door is original. The left door is a replacement.

I replaced a couple of broken ones with some I took out of a truck in a wrecking yard; they come out a lot easier than they go in. But, it wast't that bad, and you'll figure it out with some large channel locks, a large screw driver, some strong cord, and a few choice words. In my case, one of the times the "new" spring popped off, it hit me in the mouth, and broke one of my capped teeth. So, my spring experience really cost me. I probably should have bought some from LMC truck; they're probably made from quite a bit lighter spring material, and who knows, they might even fit. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Ouch!
Thanks for a good warning! I'll use a face shield as protection. Not having the spring makes the door swing wildly. I'm ordering the spring and other small parts from LMC. I'll post back pictures and info.

Just spent nine hours troubleshooting and flushing the cooling system in my K10 Sub. Thermostat apparently has been an issue from day one, just wasn't aware of the signs of a failing t-stat (and my own stupidity wasn't helping). Dropped in new aluminum radiator as well as a new 180 t-stat. Gauge shows steady at 165 finally and no leaks!

3 radiators in a row. the original 33 year old one.
passenger plastic end-cap split 2 places.

Then 2 defective out of box brand new ones.
1. Trans coolant core inside the radiator leaked
2. the entire radiator was not square when manufactured but was not noticeable till install. The entire top was off by 1/2 inch to the right.

talk about waste of new radiator fluid!!!!

when asking Questions its related to van I own: 1987 GMC 3/4 ton G2500 vandura, V6, No AC, standard length. 3speed trans(no overdrive).
