On my 67 Impala are 2 trans mount brackets welded to each frame rail. The second ones would locate the trans c/mbr approx 6 inches farther back. Which transmissions would use the front mount & which would use the rear mount? Thanks

The rear mounts are used for the Turbo-Hydromatic 400 (TH400) transamission.
The front mounts are used for ALL other transmissions --> 3-speed, Saginaw 4-speed, Muncie 4-speed, Powerglide.
NOTES: All frames had the front mount already installed when delivered from the frame factory supplier to the Chevrolet assembly plant.
The rear mounts were welded onto the frame, on the Chevrolet assembly line only for cars that were to receive the TH400 transmission.
So if your cars frame had two mounts, it was originally equipped with a TH400 transmission.
The TH400 was used behind the 327, 396 and 427 engines,
