Realizing that many of us focus on those forums/threads that match what we drive, I'm reposting this from the full size forum in hopes of additional info/experience from all you 3 pedal folks...
Got my saginaw 3spd back together w/ all new bearings, tailshaft bushing, needles, blockers, clutch & pilot bushing. After half dozen short runs (about 200 miles total) I pull in driveway, throw it in N, let clutch out and it starts making a noise. Sounds like a bearing noise and is there both driving and idling in N but goes away when clutch disengaged. While driving its consistent with RPMs not road speed regardless of gear. Under car in N its very much bell hsng/front of trans. I've had it out to check input bearing and clutch, both/all seem ok....

a. cluster gear/shaft ??
b... why suddenly after driving a few runs? ( I dont beat on it, no more than 10-15mi hiway, no faster than 70)
c. upside, I'm getting real good at getting it in & out on my back!

does the t o bearing touch the clutch?

70 L camino, grampa engine, g-force 5 spd, road rage suspension. Pray first before all else fails.

yeah Bob, been down that road thanks. slight rattle there with weaker return spring and my noise doesn't change if I lift on the pedal. Since noise started i've replaced the input/main gear bearing, pilot bushing and now 3rd t/o bearing. More an more I believe it's internal..probably countergear related. I have a line on a slightly used unit from a trusted business acquaintence from 69 Camaro that appears to be same so I'm thinking I'll go that route as he's very reasonable on $$

is your bellhousing dialed in? i do mine in 3d, it takes a long time but i think its worth it.
