Hello,
Is there a vendor out there that makes the frame brackets to hang the transmission crossmember?

Since I am planning on pulling my Bel Air body off the frame this spring, I'm laying out some projects to make use of the access. While I don't plan on putting a TH400 in the car, now does seem to be the time to add the right brackets, just in case.

I found the part number; 3855908, in the assembly manual up in the reference section (always very handy!). But my searching so far has turned up a whole lotta nuttin'.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Bill

I don't believe there is very much to them. You could always just make your own? Make some cardboard templates of yours while you have the body off.

Brickwhite is cutting up a frame and offering parts for shipping costs. See the new thread he started.

When I installed the 502 and 700R4 trans into my 66Caprice. I bought a G-Force trans crossmember.
It bolts into the original holes on the frame so you don't have to move the brackets. They are a little expensive but worth the money. Here is the link.

Steve, CK, Kevin and Loren,
Thanks to all of you for the replies. This site is great! And fairly easy to keep my social distance...

I found a piece of 6 inch c-channel at a local scrape yard. It was about 2 feet long. I picked it up and asked the guy how much, he said just take it. It is 3/16 steel, main problem was cutting it to fit.

I changed to a T-56 and had to move the location back 8 inches. Back in '96 no one made cross members for Impala's.
