Top door molding. A simple thing has me stumped. Removed all of the molding and polished them 10-12 years ago.

Stored them in a safe place nothing stacked on top of them etc all of this time

I am installing them and ran into this problem. To keep it simple. On the backside of the molding there is a small flange
1/8 lnchm running the length of the part.

I thought this flange was suppose to simply "snap" onto the back of door frame holding the molding in place.

Problem is I cannot get the flange to push back far enough.
Any ideas?
Thank tom

Tom
