Hi All.
I swapped the BCM in a 2015 Chevrolet Express.
Everything works good but I cannot get the airbag light to go out.
It has to do with the code in the SDM not matching the code in the BCM.
Does anyone know if the number can be reset without replacing or resetting the SDM?
And if not does anyone know who could possibly reset the SDM.
It only has 1 airbag in the steering wheel as it is a cutaway.
Thanks all

Have you scanned the sirs system to see if there is a code? Could be wrong but I believe the bcm does not control the sirs. Should have lots of time as we are basically locked down, can't even get a take out breakfast here.

So the SDM and BCM are paired to each other.
If you swap either with a used one it will conflict.
The code is caused by the confliction.
I need to be able to reset one of the modules so it will learn the code from the other module.

Ok so this morning I swapped the donor bcm back in so I could post the code.
It is the one and only problem with the swap.
The code simply states no communication with the Airbag module.
There is no communication because the primary key sent by the airbag module does not match the one in the Donor bcm.
The code from my Airbag module is 8065.

They do get matched but i don't know how with a used module. i know the new ones pair themselves but I've read it's a 1-time thing.

Just an update here.
I am not sure why people even sell used modules.
There is no way I can find to repair them.
I am working on something at the moment but am not having luck.
Dealers want nothing to do with it.

I wonder if a TechII could be used to reflash the module and then it would pair again. I think there are some shops selling/refurbishing modules for exchange purposes and they must get them reset.

But yes, simply selling used modules is rather dumb.

Does airbag still work?

Black electrical tape on the abs light as a low cost solution?

Not an option. Airbag would not function in the event of an accident.

thats why I asked if it still worked or not. Since it's not working, then don't do that. This needs to be fixed somehow. Wish I had any more suggestions.

to me honestly it is ridiculous.
The dealer printed out what would need to be done to add the option. I did exactly that.
They followed by saying because it did not come with it that it will not work. Grr.
It is not hard to do but only the dealer has the capability to do it.
It is just a change of a code in the BCM itself.
One code is removed and replaced with the other.
One code is for without cruise, one is for with.
I have had it done before for vehicles that were ordered without the feature by accident.

Its a critical safety feature this is why it needs to be paired 1 time only. The reason you can't pair them is to ensure the air bag is not tampered with. So it always deploys.

a shady seller could switch parts of it and not have it work right. Thus why it won't let you change it. to ensure the next driver knows it will work.

It is NOT meant to stop you from repairing but to ensure the next driver it does work 100%

you have to do the whole thing not just half to guarantee the system will work 100% of the time. and to ensure any other driver that no one has tampered with the airbag system and can trust it will work when needed.

when asking Questions its related to van I own: 1987 GMC 3/4 ton G2500 vandura, V6, No AC, standard length. 3speed trans(no overdrive).
