So apparently the 292 uses 2 different stock exhaust manifolds;one with a 2" 2 bolt outlet and heat riser, and one with a 2-1/2" 3 bolt outlet and no heat riser (used on 1-1/2 ton and larger trucks. Two questions:
1. Why no heat riser on the larger trucks?
2. If I decide I need a heat riser on the2-1/2" 3 bolt, will a bolt in heat riser from a 2-1/2" 3 bolt heat riser from a V8 exhaust fit the 292 large truck manifold?

I will make a guess here, the truck once started wisll normally run all day at full operating temperatures where the car will probably be on start stop with the result that the engine at times is operating at less than optimal temperatures. I go with the heat riser. You will get all kinds of answers here from folks that do it both ways and feel they have no problems. I go with the fact that the designers of the engine designed it with a heat riser for a reason.

Sounds reasonable. The reason I want to use the 2-1/2" outlet manifold is for slightly better air flow, about 25% better. I can't find dimensional specs for the bolt on 2-1/2" V8 heat riser valve to see if it would fit. I'm not even sure if it would work as it will be in a different location on the manifold. I think it would work OK. But I learned a long time ago, just because I think something does not make it true.
