As some of you know I'm in the middle of changing out my old 235 for a upgraded 235. I was planning on using all the old upgrades on to the new engine. Of course nothing is that easy. The new short shaft water pump has the fan hitting the Harmonic Balancer, ordered a 1/2 spacer to hopefully to fix. Today I removed the old Water electric Temp sending unit left a hole of 7/8, I think? The old sending unit, which is mechanical is only 1/2"? They sell adapters for different sizes but haven't found one for a 7/8" to 1/2". Another smaller problem I found is that none of my fittings in the block fit my old pressure gauge, nor do the new fuel pump match up to my hard fuel lines. I'm sure most of you have faced these type of problems when pursuing you passion. Any ideas on the Temp gauge sending unit.

They sell an adapter for those thermal coupler style gauges. It is 1/2" pipe Male pipe to the straight thread with the seat. A lot of the new style thermal coupler gauges still use the same adapter.

I've seen the adapter I need 7/8" however it only comes with the new gauge. I was hoping to continue to use the one in the 52 car. I might need to buy the new gauge just to get the adapter?

I bought an adapter when I installed the 261. I think I got it from Jim Carter Trucks. I will try to remember to look tomorrow.

I've bought just the adapter before, but I can't for the life of me remember the part number or where I got it. Might be Jim Carter, cause I restored two '54 Chevy pickups with mostly Jim Carter parts.

Thanks, that's good news to hear. I will give them a try and see if they have it. Thanks again!

With that number you should be able to get it from NAPA with no shipping.
