Would like to install a keyed ignition switch(hopefully from a GM) in my 50 Chevy sedan. Anybody tried this and what did you use? Thanks for any info. I read this forum and appreciate all the information I see here

    In response to Big Lew

I put one in my coupe about 17 years ago. I bought an inexpensive one from autozone or advance auto. Don’t remember which. I installed it where the original flip switch was. I had to make a spacer out of a 16 ounce soda bottle lid to get it basically flush in the dash opening with the switch mounted in the original mount but that even let me use the little light in the original switch mount. All these years later it still works well but the key has worn so much it will pull out of the switch when it is turned on. I’ve been truly daily driving the coupe for about 7 years now. Only in icey weather and the very occasional odd day do I not drive it to work.
