I bought a low mile 700R-4 from a wrecked 89 corvette and finally getting around to installing it behind a rebuilt 350 this spring.
It has a V cast in the bell housing.
Is this one of the better 700R-4's to have?
Do I use the same torque converter?
I changed the tail shaft housing, installed the TCI kit to lock up the converter and have the new yoke.
The car will just be a cruiser.

Not sure about a V in the case but a large K was common. The 85 and up are the better transmissions to use they will have 30 spline input shafts and the better internals. Each year they continued to get refined/incremental improvements along the way.

Never seen a V on them,I have a couple that I run and they both have the K stamp. You can grab the casting# off the pass side rear flange where the pan meets the case to decipher what it came from
