I have a 55 210 with no motor mounts . Frame has been cleaned off and painted. Stock frame. I bought some motor mounts for a 350 that will move the motor forward 3/4". Question is do any of yall have an idea how I can fit them and where to fit them if you don't have a 350 block to mount them to? or any pictures of where yours are if you installed these that move it forward 3/4"?
Thanks.

What engine are you planning to put in it? 350 side mounts won't work with stock tri-5 engines.

For me you have to figure out where you are.
So no front mounts?
Are the trans frame horns still on the frame?

This method depends on what kind of side mounts you have.
The side mounts I have are basically a piece of angle iron that sits on top of the frame rails and hangs down the side of the frame rail with an angled part that holds a tube for the bolt for the rubber mount.
This method uses the block with the mounts attached to the block and drilled 3/8" holes in side mounts that weld to the frame on the side and top, where you know there is frame contact.
With the rubber mounts attached and the side mounts to the block lower block into vehicle, get block where you want it and mark the mounts drilled holes on the frame rails. Make sure you center the block. Pull block out and drill the frame, mount the mounts to the frame with bolts, lower block back in, is it where you want it? Weld what you can, pull block and weld the rest.
Two issues are distrib clearance and drive shaft length will be effected by location of the block.

Steve, you can use the side mount kit that moves the engine forward and clears an HEI distributor. Many aftermarket vendors sell them, so you can get instructions online if you have such a set-up. I know Danchuk sells them. They use factory block mounts. The side mounts bolt into existing holes, on the frame, once the rivets are removed. I did it with the engine in the car. They fit all early small blocks. Factory pieces that bolt to the block are needed and readily available. You can watch a video on the install also. Type in 55 chevy side mount instructions.
