I am putting a 57 rear end under my 53 210. The 3rd member has what appears to be a date code on the right side that is K70, which would seem to me to be 11/7/60. AW 1111, is stamped on the left side which I believe means, 3.08 ratio, built on 11/11. Which would make sense if cast 11/7. Blocking one wheel and turning the other 10 times the yoke turn 15.4 times. If my calculations are right, 3.08 gears. Does any of this sound right?
Thanks, Johnnie.

I think it would be easier to turn the wheel once. The drive shaft would turn just over three times for a 3.08 ratio gearing.

There were no 3.08 gears in 57 Chevys, but the third member could have been replaced at some time...:)

first with a 3.08 was a 1959 348 with Turboglide.
several combinations had it from 1960 and up.

Thanks guys. I did a little more digging and found the cast "K70" is indeed 11/7/1960. The "AW" stamped on the left side is a 3.08 ratio in 1960 for 348 and 283 power glide cars. The "1111" is the built date of 11/11/60.
Thanks for your input.
