Hi All.
Apparently even after reading the instructions I’m apparently not smart enough to use the search function. At one time I saw where someone posted the console restoration on his 66 Impala automatic floor shift. The plastic was broken and he repaired that and also resurfaced the rest of the plastic.
It was really a good post and I failed to save it.
Any help finding that post would be appreciated.
Thank You
John

In case you're not aware, there apparently is a company that is re-manufacturing the console parts now for '66-'67, and the reviews from the '67-70 page sound good. The manual console top has been available for awhile, but they just started advertising the automatic version. I know there's lots of reasons for repairing the original, but if you can't repair the one you have, or you're missing the broken pieces, this could be a good option.

Hi John, Not sure but the thread you are referring to may possibly be a old one of mine. I have been restoring these consoles for years. Can pretty much restore anything but maybe the very worst. Can re-fabricate missing sections too. sent you a p.m. Jon.

John you may be referring to a post that I did a few years ago on my console repair. I've searched and could not find it either. The rear of my console was broken as is usually seen. I made a silicon mold of a good console using a kit from a craft store. I fitted the mold then onto the broken console and used a 2-part filler kit like is used to repair urathane bumpers. (3M I think) After curing I sanded and feathered the edges. I sprayed SEM's texturing and lightly sanded until the texture matched the original surface. I finished with SEM's color.
