Want to use the original air conditioner compressor that used a serpentine belt system on a new motor that uses a V belt system. Possible?

Same engine family? If alignment is spot on then I believe a V-belt pulley/clutch can be swapped onto your comp.

Just a suggestion. If you keep all your posts in one thread (your original post) it'll be far easier for people to follow along and be clear as to what you're working on.

....assuming this is for your '90 K1500 build

Thanks for the keep it all together response. Comp was off the 5.7 was near new but was serp. belt. Caddy motor doesn't have a/c. and is v belt. Can I swap pulleys to v style? As long as the diameter is equal?

I believe I have seen comps available with V or serp pulleys so I imagine you can swap. I assume you have to 1990 comp mounted up so the belt will line up accurately. Your 1990 style comp was never available on that 472 Caddy...most likely had the A6 (AC Delco A6).

Possibly an earlier R4 compressor version clutch can be swapped. I looked at Rockauto at a 1987 R20 (C/K2500 for us that don't follow along with all the ID changes) 5.7L as it used the R4 comp w/V-belt.
