I replaced an old, non-functioning system with a Vintage Air unit last year at this time. This is in the 2 door wagon I have torn all apart for rust and paint repair.
The install is fairly straight forward, just follow their guidelines and ask if you run into problems.
One thing I did in my install was to put the diverter valve on top of the HVAC case under the dash. I also ran copper lines and fittings under the dash because of space restraints.

Easiest to install is Old Air Products Hurricane unit. The ac and heat fittings come out throung the existing right hand air vent hole in the firewall. I have one in my 50 Sedan delivery. I also used their controller for a 55-59 Chevrolet PU and mounted it in the radio delete plate. It fit the curve perfectly.
If you want I can look up some pics of the install. I have some on Photobucket I posted earlier in another thread but Photobucket is making photo links almost unviewable in an effort to make people pay for their service.

I used the CAP-1100 with electronic valves.
I’m having a problem getting pics added with my phone. I’ll add some later when I’m on the big computer

I've installed a Vintage Air, Gen IV, in my last 1950 coupe, and one in my present 1953 sedan. In My Opinion they are really good units. That Hurricane is a good unit too. It is pretty slick the way the Hurricane mounts and uses the vent opening to pass the connections through. That sure simplifies things by grouping the connections in that one spot.
Good luck with you install.

Thanks , I see Cruzin Okie said it uses the vent opening for lines, so it would mount to the firewall in front of the vent opening, losing the vent?

Thanks looks good, You said you used electronic controls in upper post, your picture looks like mechanical. Also are you running electric fan or motor driven fan? Which condenser did you use? mount in front of radiator. Wondering because I have regular motor fan with electric in front of radiator which I will have to eliminate. Have new walker radiator with built-in tranny cooler. Engine heat is 180 even in 90 degrees, Don't know if I will have to install a separate tranny cooler being I would be going to just the engine fan.

It is an electronic controller. No electric fan just a mechanical fan with shroud. I am using a condenser I had picked at a swap meet a while back that supposedly is for a 55-57 Chevy.

I have a Vintage Air unit in my 53 Sport Coupe but I had it installed by a shop. Biggest thing I noticed was that they had to cut down the size of the glove box.

Go to the Vintage Air web site and pull up the installation instructions for the Unit you intend to buy. That way you'll know what you'll be up against.

Same here , I did my own install in My 50 brought all the hoses out of the side of the firewall below the hood hinge and spring, and i cut my glove box down. Nothing visible from the inside of the car unless you get real low.

I went with the Old Air Hurricane CAP-1100 electronic controls system for my '50 Fleetline and am extremely happy with it. Relatively easy installation and reliable.
