305 LE9 engine
Rochester 4BB #17085220
Electric choke # 17110960

Cold weather here and have traced problem down to the electric choke which does not work.

When warmed the other mech , hot air choke, opens choke O.K.

I see it takes 12-15V to open elec choke and is powered only when there is oil pressure (truck running). Oil pressure gauge works O.K.

I'm still in process of seeing if it is the electric gizzmo/choke on the carb or connections.

I guess putting bat voltage to the piece should make it open if functional, running or not.

If so I have a short or other electrical problem I need to track down..........

If not the it's the elec choke?

The other issue is the part is NLA from GM. Have not checked aftermarket?

Is this part common to a variety of GM carbs? If I need to go dumpster diving at the junk yard.....

EDIT: Available aftermarket but $54.

Might be worth seeing if other GMs use this and can find used.

The coil spring eventually does go bad from use. I adjust the choke on mine for cold and hot weather. The adjustment is to keep it closed longer than in hot weather.
