I have a 1950 Chevy pickup with a 216 cu. in engine that was running great, but just quit running while I was driving it. I put in a new coil, new fuel filter and new fuel pump. It starts right up if I spray starter fluid in the carb but dies when fluid burns up. The new fuel pump is not sending fuel to the carb. Do I need to prime the new fuel pump somehow or do I have a vacuum issue...or something else?

Sounds like maybe a plugged fuel pickup tube in the tank. Try blowing back through the line before the pump towards the tank with the cap off and see if it clears. You do have fuel in the tank, right?
