Has anyone used the Retrosound or Custom Auto sound kick panel with speakers. Did you have to do any modification to the brake peddle or anything else?

I want to add speakers but I don't really want to mod anything.

Thanks

I can't remember which brand I got but I got the ones without the speakers and put in Pioneer shallow speakers myself. The only problem I have is, is when you release the parking brake the pedal gets caught by the speaker grill halfway and I pull it up by hand the rest of the way. But I rarely use the e-brake so no big deal for me.May not be an issue with one already fitted with a speaker. But nothing had to be cut or trimmed.

I was able to install them without the brake interference using a screw thread that is part of the vent arms. I sealed my vents closed since I am now using a Vintage Air system. That being said, I also used a low profile Alpine speaker without the grill. I can take a picture and post it if you like.

Sorry for the late response, busy weekend. You can see where I used a small black screw to bring in the panel closer to the side of the car. Again, I removed the vent doors from my car as part of my A/C install so I'm not sure if that screw hole will be available for you with the doors installed. You will have to check on your car to see if it fits. You can also see my first measurement was a bit off, hence the other small hole. But I got it the 2nd time.

Kick Panel 1

Here the a picture with the parking brake pedal pushed halfway in. You can see I have plenty of clearance. That being said, the clearance is not there with the speaker grill installed.

Kick Panel 2

There are Alpine speakers. I can get you the model number if needed so you can compare size measurements. I remember specifically getting a lower profile magnet. It also helped the sound a bit by applying dyno-mat behind the kick panel. They sound great without amplification, only 25 watts RMS coming from the receiver.

Let me know if you need more pics or have any questions.
