The push on vertical c shaped clip should be screwed to the flat area behind the trunk lip.
Remove 2 screws and pry the clip to remove it from the lock cylinder.

my car didn't have a lock so i got one from rock auto. i can see the two screw holes your talking about but the clip they sent don't have screw holes it just slips behind the lock. the problem is i can't find away to get it on the lock.its to short to put it in the slot and push it on.
reproduction junk does not fit, you have to have original parts -from what I have seen.
I have original trunk locks with a long rod to fit into the trunk lock/latch slot and the push in clips that are held in place by screws.
Not sure if my 62's will fit 64's

check out these pictures compared to what you have.
These are from a 62 but the taper on the slide on clip should fit a 64 trunk.The pictures show 2 mounting clips that slide onto the lock -all so you can see the correct mounting.
