Greetings, all!
Where does water drain out of the cowl on a 66? Is it around the bolt at the bottom of the fender? Mine is (was) so goofed up from a PO that I have no idea where it drains. There seems to be a large opening on mine anyway, where the bottom of the fender bolts up. One side had a toggler-type rig up in what I assume is the drain, and the other side had what looked to be a tiny wrench with bolts welded to it, one going up into the frame, and the other going up into a hole in the fender that I assume is not the right one, and this thing was tack welded to the frame! It appears that it would drain in the back half of the cowl, and the front area is air tight.
Anyone have a pic of one with the fender off?

It does have a drain there in that area.
It also drains into the rocker panel.
BUT,the drain holes are too small and almost always get plugged with dirt and leaves,etc.
If you remove the plastic cover from the inside kick panel,you can see into the hole and clean it out some.Expect rust.
The lower fender mounts to a captive nut in the pillar.

Thanks Mike, good to hear from you again! Like I said, mine were non-existent on one side and really screwed up on the other. I couldn't imagine it drained around the bolt, but you never know. As it is, we didn't finish the end of the repair, so I'll just put a drain hole there. This is so much more complicated than the 55 was!

It's only metal and can all be replaced or repaired.(I enjoy this type work myself).Most get frustrated doing it!

Boy Howdy! I've gotten pretty good taking apart panels, drilling out spot welds and cutting out other people's BS 'repairs' with this car, the truck and the 55. Seems like I'm getting pretty adept at making pieces that aren't reproduced, and 'massaging' pieces that are. I haven't learned to weld yet, so my father in law does that, and the putty and paint. As long as I have something to look at. . . . . .

The water from cowl area drains into the rockets and exits in front of rear tire. There is not supposed to be any water draining from front. If you get in behind the the breeze vents behind kick panels there is a drain hole about one inch diameter. Most likely plugged up with leaves or other tree crud. One of my cars had two one gallon buckets of crud from being parked under a large cedar tree for 10 years.

I used a pressure washer that had a small end and flushed it out after using a shop vac to get the loose stuff first. Lots of mud came out when I pressure washed it. There is a square hole that everything came out of at back end of rocker.

Feel around in the bottom and find the hole sorta in the middle. Easiest to do with the whole vent assembly removed. Hole is about one inch diameter. I made a small attachment to fit the shop vac so I could get some of the crud out of the hole.
