My 2001 Silverado 5.3 has about 117,000 miles on now. Probably past time for a plug change. It runs good but I've hesitated doing it for fear of screwing up the threads in the aluminum heads. I've read hints like spraying PB Blaster around the base of the plug. Also I've read where there is an iridium plug that has superseded the original plug. I'd sure like some input. Thanks

I did not do the job but had an ASE do it for me for the same reasons. He had no problems with them. They were in a 2008 Buick and had 110,000 on them. He told me about the Iridium plugs but the cost an arm and a leg so I did not use them. VW used to have problems with stuck plugs but there was a way around that.

The rear plugs can be a problem. Not easy to reach due to a tight fit. A prelube of PB Blaster is good. Change them hot too since they have been in for so long.
