I have an original temp guage from a '38. I have been testing it to see if it works. When I put it in boiling water, it will run up to about 2/3 of its range. I did blow it out with air and put a little oil on the pivot points. When the needle moves, it is somewhat jerky. It is in tough shape as it has been sitting out in the elements for decades. I did clean the bulb off with some 600 grit sandpaper. I am looking for some insight on this and would appreciate all comments. thanks, greg
