My sister and I took a 7700 mile trip in July and stopped in Indianapolis for lunch with Bob. He is on the right. Still doing okay, but not on the internet. He is thinking of selling his 54.

Nice to see Bob again. Last time he was here he mentioned selling his car. How was your trip and where all did you go?

Thanks for sharing that Keith. Bob was a great friend of the site for a very long time. Nice to see he is doing OK.

7700 ! Its about 3000 coast to coast so you've got a lot of extras there.

Can you tell us more?

Hi Keith and Bob!
Miss hearing from Bob. He did a real nice job on his Chevy ..actually more than one after a wreck. Newer guys can look up his posts and see his build photos. At least I think he can still be found here. Glad he is still hanging in there.
Thanks for sharing your travels, Keith!

Hope I don't bore everyone. I lost my wife "Barb" of 48 years on Jan 8 2017 due to a massive brain hemorrhage. Just couldn't post it here then. In July 2017 my widowed sister and I made a 8800 driving mile trip to the east coast. She also joined me this year. Here is my 7700 driving mile trip. I left on June 25 2019 driving my 2019 Ranger. Went to Marshalltown Ia. My home area where I was born. Then to Prior Lake MN to visit relatives. Then Springfield Ill. Visit Lincoln Memorial Museum. Then Indianapolis to have lunch with Bob Hayden. Then Latrobe Pa, to visit my wife's cousins. Then Gettysburg battlefield. Then Philadelphia Pa to see the Liberty Bell. Youngstown Oh to visit a guy I was in the Navy with. Dayton Oh to see the Air Force Museum. Cincinnati to visit Barb's cousin. Joplin Mo visit an aunt. Marshalltown for 60th class reunion.

Keith, Good for you. As time passes for us older kids, It brings to light the more important things in life. The friendships we have and to the meaning of life which is family. As a new member I enjoy reading the posts of members who have posted, Like Bob, Belair Kiwi, and other truly Knowalageable chev guys. Keeping the flame burning ..... brings a lightness to my heart and I know to yours. And I hope for the young kids the posts of the old kids will keep the knowledge going about these wonderful cars.

Keith, I appreciate you bringing us up to date on your life's events. My wife, Barb, of 50 years, has advanced dementia and no longer communicates effectively. I can imagine how much you miss yours but it is good to see you keeping busy and maintaining the relationships you have built over the years.

There is little time for me to fool with the car now days but it would be so much harder if I did not have good friends and family to enjoy and talk to.

I also miss Bob. He was a very knowledgable source of information and contributed greatly to this forum but I also understood his point of view when he left.

Glad to hear you are out and about. I think about your loss a lot and kind of think what life without the bride of 67 years would be like. It would take a lot of time to come to grips with that.

Bob was the first person to reach out when I was starting my build. I still have the stock steering column from his 54 in my 51.

I was part of the reason he got in the accident. I was looking for some star washers with the store on both the inside and the outside. He told me he had a source for them and would go pick up what I needed. When he sent them to me, he mentioned that while enroute to his place is when he got into the accident.

Glad to hear he is still around...thanks for sharing.

The proper term for this item is "Internal-External Combination Lock Washer"
