I put LED tail light bulbs in my '55 - the (1157?) drop-in kind. They are nice and bright. But since the turn signals didn't flash at first, I put an LED flasher in, and thought I was good. But I've noticed a problem:
With the lights on, the turn signals work fine.
With the light off AND the brake lights on (I'm pushing the brake pedal down), the turn signals work fine.
With the lights off, and I'm NOT pushing the brake pedal, the turn signals flash BOTH sides. Either side will do the same thing, flashing both turn signals.
How the heck do I fix that so it will work as designed?

Do the dash turn indicators both flash also? Does the flasher have a ground wire and is it grounded good?

No, the dash indicators show what the turn signals should be doing, only one blinking at a time.
The new flasher was a plug-in replacement. I didn't add any wires to it.

AND, the weird thing is that the front turn signals operate as they should. They aren't LED though.

Check that the tail light housings are grounded good to the body (screws tight). What's the part # of the flasher?

Thanks for posting this problem. I've put led lights in my 4 dr but not the point of having juice to them. Very interested in why this happened.

I would reinstall the original filament bulbs and ck their operation. The specs on that flasher say its good for incandescent or led. This will confirm or negate that you have a wiring or bulb contact issue.
