My 55 Belair with a pretty much stock 68 327 SB with a mild hydraulic cam, small valve heads and edlebrock performer series 4 barrel needs intake manifold gaskets due to oil leaks. My question is should I use the gaskets that block of the center port that I assume supplies heat to the carb. I have had some problem starting with engine hot which is pretty good after installing a spacer under carb. I live in Northern Ca. and currently have the heat riser wired open and no problems with cold engine drive ability. Appreciate your input.

I would suggest Fel-Pro 1204 which have stainless steel block-off plates for the exhaust crossover.

I would also suggest using a ¼” bead of RTV on the ends instead of the cheesy rubber gaskets that come with all gasket sets for SBCs, they always squeeze out and cause leaks.

Thanks to you both for your input. I am going to go with blocking off the passage with the fel pro gaskets and seal the ends with RTV.
