Hello,

I’m recently purchased a 1951 Chevy 1430 (Canadian) but am having a hard time determining if the engine is a 216 or 235.

The engine SN is X419965.

Appreciate if anyone can help me solve this.

Thanks.

If an early 1951 216 it will have the tall push rod cover that goes all the way up to the rocker arm cover.
If it is a late 1951 216 it will have the low 6 1/2" tall cover. It will look just like a 235.
What is the casting numberon the intake manifold?
