Does anyone happen to know the combustion chamber size for heads on a 1957, #3731539.
Spec sheet from back of Danchuk catalog says v8, Dual 4BC, Fuel Injection. That can not be correct. Found car with 2bbl on it, have changed to correct for year 4bbl intake with Carter WCFB.
Hoping for 58cc.

Can’t measure chamber. My home shop is not that well equipped. I have looked around and found a lot of different opinions, both good and bad, about these heads. Planning to rebuild engine if necessary. If so, I’m going add a few more horses with upgraded internals. Not going to go crazy as I understand that radiator is a weak link.
60 cc’s it is until told or proven otherwise.

What one would find on a Chevy after 6x years is up in the air.
Speedway Motors has a cc checker for $25.
A stock cooling system in good shape should be fine for a mild 283. I would add an aftermarket shroud and have the blades 1/2 in and 1/2 out.
Unless you are winding 5,000 or more a LOT of times I would stay with stock style set up. For fun I can see duals and glass packs.

Popped the valve covers off and read the numbers, so that what this motor has.
Radiator is correct date code. I saved the upper and lower tanks and had the best core the shop could buy put with the tanks.
My upgrade idea is the Speed-pro Hypereutectic cast flat tops in whatever rebore is necessary. A Comp Cam 286H has been suggested for a little lope. Around a 9.5 compression ratio so pump gas still ok. Don’t believe that’s going to lite the tires very often and radiator should handle it.

IF the heads are off the engine, then use an old CD (with the hole in the center), and seal it to the heads surface with Vaseline. Then use a large syringe/turkey baster/whatever, to fill the combustion chamber with 99% Isopropyl alcohol (reason is, it evaporates rather quickly when you're done). Fill the syringe up, squirt it through the hole, with the head lying combustion chamber "up", as flat as possible, and record how much it takes to fill the chamber up. Not rocket science, but not just a SWAG (scientific wise censored guess) either. Head may have been milled at some point, larger valves installed, or some port/polish work done, so the stock figures may not apply. Smallest chambers were the 1956 #5306 at 55.6685 CC's, until the #601, 305 heads arrived on the scene with 53.0 cc chambers. DART had 49 cc chamber heads at one time; they may still have them.
