I went into my shop to begin the long road of getting things in order. I turned before I left and snapped this. I also got the '53 6500 Dump going after putting on the correct carburetor and the correct choke and throttle cables. Now to bleed the Hydrovac and the wheel cylinders...and I'll have brakes again.

I put together a remote reservoir, yes that's a paint cup, and used Dorman 12701 Quick Bleeders (one person bleeders) which I bought at Auto Zone or O'Reilly's...one of those. I needed a total of six; two on the Hydrovac unit and one at each wheel cylinder. I have brakes again. Although this was done on a truck, I'm sure the same thing can be done on a passenger car. I drilled and tapped a replacement metal cap, screwed in a 3" nipple, added a reducer to a gravity feed paint cup and threaded that onto the nipple. The threads were kind of a miss-match from the paint cup to the reducer but close enough...hence a lot of teflon tape.

I'll take the gray Coupe off your hands so you'll have more time to work on your other stuff. I really should have kept the 51 Business Coupe the nephew and I built. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

The fleetline is nice. I had a 51 GMC pickup with the chrome grill, owned it for about 5 years but did nothing with it as the rust was way to much to handle at home.

Looking good. What is the story on the cabover. I don't remember you mentioning it.

Keith, It's actually a 6500 which uses the conventional cab. It was used by one of the local fruit packers, Sno-Kist, here back in the day. I was going through eBay a week ago and found a 1954 COE, 5700 series, for sale in Montana with a dump bed that used to be stabled here in Selah, WA. You can see the difference. I posted the photo below on a local facebook page I belong to and the original owner's daughter recognized the truck. She said her father used it to haul apples and would dump them into a large washing tank at Tree Top where they would later be turned into apple juice. Since mine has a dump body as well, I assume it was used for the same purpose...although mine does have cable ratchets on either front side of the bed for securing apple / fruit bins to the bed.
