I've had my 58 for 30 years now but it's finally got me. I've always done all my own work so I'm familiar with the car. I had a carb issue and rebuilt it. I still had trouble getting into the secondaries when the motor had been running for 1/2 an hour and found advancing the timing helped. But the pinging was very evident and on the way home this morning from a small trip sputtered and missed to the driveway and wouldn't start. Car cooled and started perfectly, ran okay. No points, I did the electronic conversion but can only think it might be the coil at this point. Doesn't make sense why only when hot and driven for more than 30 minutes.
If a wcfb is that weight free?
On timing what are the numbers?
Miss when hot, gas line too close to exhaust pipe?
Something electrical getting too hot?
Heat riser free?
Changed the capacitor, messed with timing but still have a back-fire under hard acceleration. I think I may have done something wrong on the Carb. Yes it is weighted which makes me wonder if I put something together incorrectly there. Maybe just getting too much gas.
Seems to be a good time to break this into steps. Dialing the carb in should be done after getting the timing spot on.
Do you have a timing light? A dial back is best.
Vacuum line removed from vacuum advance and line plugged. As low of an rpm as the engine will run and what is the initial degrees?
