1998 c1500 2wd 4.3l 5 speed manual
reverse lights giving me grief
its seems that when the tranni is put into is not making proper contact with the plunger on the reverse switch.
i removed the switch from the tranni...and installed it into the wiring harness..depressed the plunger and the lights work.
So i have power and continuity thru the switch.
Re-installed the switch into the tranni...turned key to run position...put tranni in reverse...set tester to tone...probed both sides of switch and can not get a tone. So i guess that when in reverse it is not making proper contact on the plunger and therefore is not closing the circuit.
the tranni is a getrag.... rpo mg5
Have not had any luck sourcing a diagram etc that shows how it makes contact with the plunger.
All help greatly appreciated

Did it ever work? It may be the wrong switch. Rock Auto shows different length switches., 1998...

yes it worked in the past...have had truck since new. The switch it uses is the longer of the 2 made for that tranni.
my question is what actuates the switch ...a bar...a plunger...???
can not find any info that shows it
