Hey guys I'm curious about how to find a part based on its part number especially in the manual. Are the numbers used at all auto parts shops. Like for example. I'm looking a clip that goes for a linkage. I'm not sure of the part name but I think I found it and a the part number in the assembly manual. Can I take this number to southeast chevy parts or autozone and they can look it up?

Only a Chevy dealer would use the OEM part numbers and parts books with those numbers. There may be some exception to this but it would be rare and probably informal.

Some reproduction parts manufacturers might be familiar with the OEM numbers but I doubt they would use those numbers to label their parts.

SE Chevy might have what you need but they would probably want to know the exact application if it's a used part.

Is there any way you can post a diagram or pic of the part and provide the number?

What exactly is the year, body #, motor and trans are you dealing with, GM won't be any help on 50-60 year parts such as linkage, but many of us have old parts books if we know to look for, and have time to do it, the last post asking what is this gave you a parts book page from Lamar, finding it by part number would be beyond a shot in the dark in this case I am afraid, there are squirrels that have stuff like that sitting in cars that could be ready to go to the crusher, I know I have allot of stuff I forgot I have (sorry no linkage) but there could be someone willing to see what they have?
Good Luck, take the part out, take several pics and measurements, that will help more than a part number on linkage 9.999 times out of 10.

Once out, it may be something completely unrelated, Knowledge is king, and there has always been tons of it here at CT
