Hi all,

I'm diving in and doing the $100 Rustoleum roller paint job on my Honda Civic. Got the car all sanded and prepped and ready for the first color coats. I'm using Rustoleum acrylic enamel (the usual hardware store quart cans) mixed about 50/50 with low-odor mineral spirits (totally pure MS was not available near me).

Here's where I'm stuck... I've read a lot of info about how to do the painting, and the many different websites all disagree on the correct spacing between coats. One guy says you can do three coats in a day without sanding by spacing them 6 hours apart (6am, noon, 6pm), then wet sand and put on three more coats if needed before polish-sanding with finer grits. Others say you have to wait 24 hours between every coat and must wet sand (usually with 600 grit) between every coat before polish-sanding.

Has anyone done this? When did you lay down new coats, and did you wet sand between coats?

You can't successfully wet sand Rustoleum.
