Good catch! I have gone back to rebuilding wheel cylinders, present quality on "new" is too poor.

I almost always do too, and for the same reason. I bought new for another car project and never could get the line fittings to seal. When I pulled them off the machining on the flare of the wheel cylinder was rough, and no way it could have ever sealed. Took them back, and bought kits.
I'll look these new ones over closely, and hope and pray they're decent quality!

Got the new wheel cylinders and brake shoes installed today. What a complicated setup the Ford 8.8" rear brakes are! And the springs are a PITA to get off, and almost as tough to get back on. I discovered my proportioning valve also had a minor seep, but was able to tighten the adjusting knob and it stopped. For now the only issue I had with the new wheel cylinders is the two threaded holes for mounting bolts must have been tapped with a worn out tap. Couldn't even get the old bolts to start more than a 1/2 turn. So I grabbed my tap and die set and ran a tap through the threads and then they worked fine.
Took it for a spin after I cleaned up and she's stopping better than I ever remember! Did some slow speed stops, and then a 35 mph panic stop on a side street, and it really anchors the tires now. Hope I'm done fixing things for the summer, and can just enjoy driving now.
