I've got an 85 C10 I'm getting ready to put on the road.

I want to go through the filters and such. I've not played with a 305 but have lots of experience with older 350s.

Question is can you use the longer spin on oil filters on the 305 blocks?

Maybe a part number?

305 and 350 SB are the same block. There are some rare exceptions. Only bore and stroke are different. The 305 can accept a longer filter as long as it screws on. Carb fuel filters are the same.

STP S373 or equivalent

It is the 2qt big truck filter. Same diameter as a S5 but twice as long. Bottom of the filter will sit even with the bottom of the stock oil pan. Be sure to fill the filter with oil before you screw it on to prevent a dry start. Fill the filter, then put 4 qts in the crankcase. Start the engine and then shut it off. Should be about the right oil level. If not add to the fill line. Reason I say this is the capacity changes and it is no longer 5qts with filter.
