I had a stock tank converted for my El Camino. Tanks Inc. sells a module to convert existing tanks. The tank has to be between 6 and 10 inches deep.

This is a modified wagon tank that used to be made by I believe Rock Valley. It is not made anymore so your best bet is to install a tank designed for a car (Sedan). It requires making mounting brackets and modifying the tank filler tube.

Rock Valley is who did my El Camino tank. I had a new stock tank shipped to them and they modified it and shipped it to me.

Thanks guys for the response. I'm thinking of pulling my tank and modifying it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you plan on welding on the tank, have it hot tank cleaned so there are no fuel vapors to ignite.

If you haven't done the tank yet, I would consider starting with a new tank. They are not normally very expensive. A custom made, SS tank, on the other hand can get to be pricy. But that is another deal completely.
