On the wiper transmission escutcheon on my 1950, there is a hole to add a sprayer nozzle to spray washer fluid. Does this hole belong on the inside or outside when mounted?

They are positioned so that the nozzle is on the inside portion of the wiper motor housing. Image from the 1952 Chevrolet Accessory Brochure.
