My Impala has borderline cooling since moving to Florida. In anticipation of increased cruising in hot, humid weather I think it might be wise to consider an aluminum radiator. Car is stock 327 engine with factory air and automatic trans. I would like to keep as much of the original parts as possible f.ex. the fan and shroud and stock radiator hose locations. Does any company make an aluminum radiator that is a direct bolt in replacement?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

FYI, Copper/Brass radiators have a better cooling coefficient then aluminum. All aluminum does for you is it weighs less.

I put this one in my 66. I only have about 200 miles on it but so far it cools my 427 wonderfully, even on a day that was over 90*. It looks very close to stock, bolted right in.

I should add, I think your 65 has the top hose on the opposite side (?) but this place may well have a 65 aluminum replacement as well, I'm not sure.

I bought mine from Griffen. It was pricey but it was a fully loaded unit with dual fans and full shroud. It was for my 502 BBC with 700r4 trans.
Never got above 208 last year in 98 degree heat and stop and go on I-5.

US Radiator has a few options for '65 Impalas. They are quality and made in the USA. One option is an aluminum radiator that appears somewhat original. They also have copper/brass radiators with more modern design cores which will cool better. I bought one for my car last year after speaking with them about the best options for my car & setup.

They don't sell direct, but they can direct you to a vendor. After I figured out a part number, I contacted the Filling Station and purchased through them.

I put a Champion aluminum 3-row radiator in my '53 about 4 years ago. Wasn't a direct bolt-in as they said since I had to remove some of the flange and drill a few holes but it wasn't a difficult job. Price was right at under $200. Car has not seen 200 degrees yet. Runs about 180 on the road and will heat up to a max of 190 in traffic.
