On my 57 with the 283 engine I’m needing to know where the ground cable from the battery connects. I see it connects to the front of the head on the six cylinder but I’m not finding the info for the v8. I’m guessing the top water pump bolt. Thanks

I believe it's just a all thread stud., with nut to torque water pump, then cable, washer, lock washer, nut.

Funny story. I was at a local cruise-in a while back. We all park our cars and have our hoods and windows open for everyone to examine our cars. This guy comes up and has his head up under my hood looking at stuff. Then he informs me I should not put my battery ground cable on that water pump bolt because it wasn’t a good ground because the water pump has gaskets between it and the block. I just thanked him for his advice. I didn’t mention that bolt and 3 others go thru the pump and into the block and the pump is full of conductive coolant going thru the block.
