The factory temp guage on my 68 has stopped working. The needle has completely disappeared up into the guage. The spade connector from the wire is on the temp sensor. What would be the issue here? Bad ground?

Remove wire from sender, does the gauge needle move? If not, connect gauge wire directly to ground, does gauge needle move? If either of these provide movement, I would suspect sender.

The reason I provide both tests is that I don't recall right off hand which way the needle is supposed to move with increasing/decreasing resistance. But with these test, you cover all the bases.

I do know that the wire coming from the gauge is voltage positive and the sender is the ground. If the gauge doesn't move with the above tests, make sure you have voltage at the sender wire. If not, then you have something wrong upstream. Could be a wire, could be a printed circuit, could be the gauge coil has gone open. You just have to trace it back until you find the spot where you have voltage and the last thing after that spot is the problem. Does that make sense?
