Hi all,

My brothers garage burnt down 2 days ago and my 1966 Chevy truck, being rebuilt, was in it. Found out that his insurance doesn't pay for any automotive parts. (It does pay for tools, USAA)I didn't have insurance on the truck, the frame, tires, wheels and all our new parts were in there.(around 10k plus)
The only items not in the garage were in the paint shop and just finished being primer-ed, front fenders, hood, cab, bed fenders and tailgate.
So all of you should check your insurance so you don't make my costly mistake.
It also makes me sad because now I can't build my truck as I'm not physically capable(Iraq) and my brother can't either now, not to mention the lost parts.
So if anyone can tell me the going price for the cab, front fenders, bed, tailgate all primer-ed, with gas tank hole welded up, I'd appreciate it.... if you know someone who'd buy it please let me know as well (Asheville, NC)
Thanks for your help.

Sorry for your misfortune. I had a similar situation years ago when my wife ran into the garage door when the brakes failed on my 57 Chevy. There was hardly any damage done to my Chevy but my '32 Ford coupe was in the garage on jack stands at the time and it knocked it off the stands and damaged the front fender. I was still building it so I did not have insurance at that time either but fixing a fender was not nearly as expensive as replacing a whole car. My condolences.

Really sad news. something we hardly think about. A friend had his newly (6 years) completed Fire bird parked in cold storage for the winter signs all over the place saying the owner did not insure your storage so be sure and check your own. No insurance at all on the car for the winter. Total loss. When you get insurance do not leave the agents office until you understand exactly what you are getting. If the premium is notably lower than another company something is missing and it is generally something important.

Just for who ever might be interested in buying the 1966 long bed fleet side, big back window;

New parts
Hood complete
Outer and inner front fenders
Doors

Used
Cab
Right rear panel
Tailgate
Front of bed
Inner fenders

Burnt in garage
Frame
Left rear panel

For price I'm guessing to add up the new parts price, minus the shipping. Also look up the used parts price.
Then calculate 75 percent of the total number and negotiate?

What does a cab go for?
Any help on this please!!
Thanks again for your comments and advice

A good cab that has good floors, rocker, cab corners is easily worth $1000-$1500 add a few hundred more for big back window. You can look up Andrew Rumley on facebook he is in that neck of the woods and might be interested or know someone who is.
