back with another problem.I bought side window glass frames on e bay. I got one of them installed R door & it's not working out very well.I should mention made in Taiwan. Here's what's going on,new rollers have about 3/16 play in the channel there seems to be a different offset from glass channel to the roller tracs. The window will go up & down with help from my free hand, lots of up & down movement of the glass. I am looking for feedback from any one who may have had the same experience. My originals were very poorly repaired as they are rotted ( window channel ) Any feedback would be helpfull. Thinking of getting old roller track & brackets welded to new window channel, has anyone tried this? Are there any repops available that are exactly like oem's?
I would like to say I am thankfull for this forum,I would have not gotten this far along with out it.
Thanx in advance....Ken....new in 62 PS regulators are original if I was to order rep.where is the best source? I'm getting snakebit by using the wrong suppliers. Thanx again.

so I assume you are talking about 62 Impala 2 door Hardtop rear 1/4 glass lower and upper frames (with new glass in them?)

or are you talking about 4 door frames?

The original lower rear 1/4 frames are pot metal on hardtops. I have nice used hardtop rear 1/4 frames and hardtop original window controls(I think)

Repro parts can be junk and need to be returned if they don't work (you probably can't now but I make that statement after many years of finding junk being sold)

Thanx Paul,
2 dr hardtop. The windows seem to be binding in the channels, got new fuzzies in vent windows, when I go to roll windows down ,the front drops down app. 1 1/2 inches the back stays up until I push it down. Spent a day trying to adjust can't get it done. When window is 1/2 way down I can rock it like it's on a teeter totter, I 'll have to come up with another plan.

is this the track you replaced on the door lower door glass ? -the one in the attached pictures is the drivers side(not the passenger side as the picture states).

Did you replace the vent window track with a full length chrome beaded on two edges felt track ? How did you attach the felt track after drilling out the rivets in the original vent window felt tracks (that originally came with two separate vertical felt track pieces per vent window.

Did you put new felt in the vertical door glass track by the door jamb?

Are you using original door glass or reproduction new door glass ?

Do you have the vent window chrome beaded felt track vertically straight up and down (without a curve in it?)

Adjustments are
tilt vent assembly forward and backward
Tilt vent assembly in and out toward center of car
horizontial sliding track hooked to the door glass crank mechanism in center of door has 2 hex bolts that move vertically in slots in the door -these tilt the entire door glass left to right or right to left.
Rear vertical felt lined track by door jamb tilts in slots toward and away from the center of the car

yes that is the trac I'm trying to use.In your picture at the bottom of the frame is a horizontal track that appears to be stock.I've been thinking about taking out the china track & use my oem.The hex bolts you are talking about are on the very bottom trac right? If I drop the back of the track down that should keep the front of the window up right? Do you have an opinion on swapping the roller track just below the glass channel? The glass came with the car. I changed the frame because of a unattractive repair. The OE channel is rotted thru in a couple of places. I am appreciative of your input. I will go thru the steps again & see what happens.

In that picture is another lower track, that is the original lower track that was used with the original chrome frame that holds the door glass (yours is rusted).

I acutually drill out the spot welds in the reproduction track and reuse the original track and mount it with philips screws and a hex nut/with a star washer. It makes it much easier to install the glass in the door, just the way the originals were done.

sometimes it is necessary to spread some silcone spray on the new felt (with a rag soaked in silcone spray) to get the window to slide in the new felt without binding.

good information,I was leaning towards changing the track just needed another opinion.

The silicone is a good idea, going to try that first thing.
