the hood on my 65 at rear (by the cowel) is about 1/2 inch higher than the cowel, how can I align it?everything else looks fine

Sal, it's been decades since I messed with a 60-66 but I've worked on a bunch - pretty sure what you're looking at is wear in the hinges, not an adjustment. I'd wait for others to chime in but I believe you're looking at replacing the hinges; dunno if there is a means to repair the old ones.

sounds like the hinges might be the problem, which hinges would you recommend? I see many companies selling them but would like to hear from somebody who have bought them before

Seems that it's a common complaint that the repo hinges lack the quality of the originals. That said, many have disassembled their originals and after examining where the pivot points are worn, replace rivets/bolts and/or weld up worn holes, file and re drill to the proper specs. The goal is to remove any slop in the hinges.

Now if your lucky and it's just a case of adjustment, it seems counter intuitive but loosen the hinge firewall bolts, have a friend lift the front of the hood, then tighten the bolts while your helper pushes up. Odd as it sounds, it worked for me.
