This guy here at the throttle body - link

This is on the 4.8 V8.

Mine is worn out and won't tighten up anymore. I'm hoping this is not permanently affixed to the intake, I haven't really looked at it but it seems like it is stuck on good. It'd be great to hear the clamp can be replaced with a generic auto parts clamp.

Typically a clamp on an intake boot like that has a keyed slot in it that slides over a nub in the boot's rubber to keep it from slipping off; just takes rotating the clamp to slide it off the nub. You could use a regular clamp if you find one large enough to fit that isn't also too wide so that it doesn't smash the boot's lip.

I don't believe GM offers that specific clamp separately, but you could probably score it from a boneyard or from someone that has a stock air intake sitting around.

Hell, that is a generic autoparts/hardware store clamp.

Nothing really unique other than the key slot I mentioned. Regular clamp won't have it so you'll need to modify slightly.

The quality is surely too low for that . . . this is the first time I've ever seen a worm gear clamp fail.

That's a possibility. I've measured the clamp size and will see what I can turn up.

Go to your local hardware store and you should be all set. looks to be around a 4"
And sadly I have seen worm clamps break.
I have seen ones that looked like new break,
but ones that were rusted badly but still holding.
I have seen a hoseclamp cause a blown engine.
Hoseclamp fails, hose pops off, and if driver doesn't pay attention thats all it takes.

Well this clamp shouldn't be able to blow the engine thank goodness.

Looks to me like the screw for the clamp is backwards.

Good catch. I think I looked at it on my phone previously and didn't see that. Sure does look like someone took it apart and tried putting it back in the wrong side.

I'd be that someone. It won't hurt me too much if all I have to do is put the screw on the other side.

edit - that fixed it!
