My 1950 3100 with original 216 and 73000 miles runs real good once started. It does not want to start after setting for a few days unless I pur gas in the carb. I replaced the gas line and filters this winter and rebuilt the carb thinking I would resolve the issue. The old gas line had 2 filters, 2 shut off valves and rubber hose between each. The new line is the correct size and runs from the tank to the fuel pump with the only shut off valve at the tank under the truck. New line from fuel pump to old style glass bowl filter and new line from filter to Carb. There are no rubber hose and no apparent leaks that I can find. I add a dribble of gas to the carb and the truck starts right up. It will start fine for the next couple of days. But when it sets for several days, I have to add gas to the carb to get it to start. I am using gas with the dreaded ethanol, 87 octane. A friend with a 56 235 spliced a check valve between the fuel pump and carb and says the problem is resolved. He has several rubber hose splices in his gas line and uses ethanol free gas. Any thoughts on how to get the old girl to start reliably? Thanks
Leon

It’s the gas. The ethanol evaporates quickly. You could add an electric helper pump and regulator to fill the lines and bowl when you turn the key, give it a pump or two of gas then fire it up.
