I'm missing the clips that attach the L/R curved trunk moldings. Are there replacements? Anybody have extras? Alternative method of attachment? Thanks, Bill

I made a few clips with a piece of thin sheet metal, a cone coil spring, a screw the same size of the one in the real clip and some JB Weld and it worked fine for me, but I had a clip to go by. I can't get to mine now so I'm not sure what they look like but I will look to see if I have a picture of one. Not much help here. Lamar

Here is a picture of mine. 3 different sizes. I would suggest visiting a junkyard as all 1960 models had the same moulding on the trunk lid. Hope this helps.

Bilbob,

You asked for alternative mounting. You might not be ready for my suggestion, so take it with a grain of salt.

We spend untold hours getting all the rust patched on our cars, then drill holed to mount the chrome. A hole is just a good place for rust to start. What a shame.

The good two sided tape available now is what I plan on using on my 6T. The new adhesives now is good enough that they mount the doors to the cabs of pickups with it.
All the trim on the new cars are mounted with it. Don't get the cheap stuff. The stuff I am talking about is expensive.

Good luck,

Griff

Food for thought!
One of my pet hates is people who drill through the stainless and use a tech screw to hold the trim down. The tape idea sounds like a good idea. What's involved in removing the trim if required?

Some of the trim is held in place with stamped sheet metal nuts. You have to take most of them off from the inside. I had to take my interior panels off anyway, so it was no problem for me. If you have to take panels off to get to the nuts, might be a bigger problem.
There are a couple that almost cannot be reached. You will have to have all your 1/4 drive extensions, u-joints and a deep socket to get to them all.

Let us know how it comes out.

Bilbob.
A PM is just a private message. There is a link in the persons id panel. It says send private topic. Just click on that and voila, PM.

If you find out that the clips are not salvageable there is a set listed in Arizona for sale that I ran across.
